Bert Monroy’s 750,000 Layer Photoshop File of Times Square is Done!

Yes, you read that right! My buddy and Photoshop Artist Bert Monroy (I'm in awe of what this guy can do with a blank Photoshop canvas) has completed his latest project. A 750,000 Layer Photoshop File of Times Square in NYC. Bert wanted to recreate a scene in Times Square using hand drawn art and photos that he has taken over the years. I'm also very proud and totally honored to be featured in it :

Check out Bert's new masterpiece here (using Zoomify technology, you can actually zoom in on it!)  Pan around see who you can recognize.

Very cool Bert! You are amazing!

How Papyrus is Made in Egypt – a longer Nikon D7000 HD clip

httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jX4xaQkgaIo

I took the liberty of posting this longer clip that I shot in Cairo at the Papyrus Museum giving a demo of how Papyrus Paper is made.

I shot it with the Nikon D7000 at 1080p 24fps. Yes it's handheld. Yes it's onboard audio. Yes it was shot with my Nikon 28-300mm lens at around f/5.6. Yes I was fiddling with the controls and focus a couple of times during recording. Yes she does reveal some top secret information at the end when she asks me to stop recording πŸ˜‰

If this is the worse case scenario of HD video on this camera then I'm going to be very happy using it on a tripod with an external mic.

You can get the Nikon D7000 here from B&H Photo. This is one hot camera!

The Adobe CS5 Pharaohs Tour in Cairo – Photo Trip Report

I'm headed back from Cairo as I write this quick post to thank everyone who showed up and supported the CS5 Pharaohs Tour in Egypt! It was an amazing turnout with standing room only. I had a blast, took lots of pictures, met some great new friends and was photographed more in one day than I have been in 10 years πŸ™‚ I'm totally wiped out and therefore I decided to wrap this trip up with more photos than words. Enjoy…

Yes I managed to work in a Fashion Shoot πŸ™‚ – ok back to work!

The turn out was absolutely incredible with some traveling as far as South Africa to see this event!

They treated us like Rock Stars! I was floored by the number of fans that were on hand to have the photos taken with us and to take photos of us. I'm truly humbled by the response!

Yes we made it to Historic Old Islamic Cairo. This is a "must visit "if you're in the area.

Special thanks goes out to the Adobe User Group Managers in Cairo! You guys are awesome. Thanks for making me feel so welcomed.

That's all I have time for now, I'm about to board my next flight. See more of my photos here and once again THANK YOU CAIRO! I shall return πŸ™‚

I’m headed to Cairo next week!

It's time to head to the Middle East/Africa for my CS5 Masters Tour! Of course I'm looking forward to seeing all the Adobe Creative Suite users in Cairo as well as the numerous photo ops. So I'll be blogging on location throughout the week with a hectic schedule. If you're in Cairo I look forward to seeing you there. It's my first time back to Egypt since 1990.

If you're going to be in the area register here.

Thanks for a Great Adobe MAX 2010!

I wanted to take a few minutes to thank those of you who attended my "Creating Interactive Content Without Writing Code" session at this year's Adobe MAX. This session was sold out and I apologize to those that wanted to attend that couldn't. Based on the evals this content was right on the mark. I must admit that MAX isn't necessarily a show that I look forward to based on its traditional "Developer" focus. However, as a Design Evangelist I was jazzed by the creatives in the crowds and I was really inspired by everything that was shown during Monday's keynote! If you want to see where Adobe is headed around publishing to multiple devices, Flash, AIR, HTML 5 and more, you definitely owe it to yourself to watch the Keynote replay here.

I've taken the liberty of embedding my favorite part of the keynote below. We had a surprise guest Martha Stewart and she took the wraps off her NEW special digital edition of Martha Stewart Living running on an iPad and created using the NEW Adobe Digital Publishing Suite:

What a Fantastic Week in the Nordics!

i'm on the road and literally on the go in the airport. However, I wanted to take a moment to thank the thousands of you that came out to our Adobe Creative Suite 5 tour in Helsinki, Stockholm, Oslo and of course the beautiful Copenhagen! I had a blast presenting the latest tips and techniques including a sneak peek at our NEW Digital Publishing solution featuring the iPad. πŸ˜‰

It was also fun having Julieanne Kost on the tour with myself, Jason Levine and Greg Rewis.

The crowds were amazing and when I walked into the Cinemaxx in Copenhagen I literally said "whoa!". It was PACKED!

Thanks again and I'm looking forward to coming back to the region soon.

Thanks Germany & Switzerland! Great CS5 Masters Tour

Yes, I even got to present in a real Castle! – Schloss Lenzburg Switzerland

Last week I wrapped up the Adobe CS5 Masters Tour with the last stop in Schloss Lenzberg Switzerland! I have to thank my overseas audience for a great tour. It was great seeing so many of you in Munich (sadly I didn't make it to Octoberfest or Photokina), Düsseldorf, Vienna, Hamburg and Zürich. We had a back to back world-wind schedule and as much as I loved the locations I visited, I didn't get a chance to enjoy the sites as much as I would have liked to. Nonetheless I had a great time!

It’s Time For Photoshop World!

It's that time of year again and I'm looking forward to heading out to Adobe Photoshop World this week in Las Vegas! I'll be teaching my usual two InDesign classes, but this year I'm also teaching a Lightroom class and even a Social Network – Facebook class.

In addition to the conference track classes I've got something up my sleeve for the keynote as well as a couple of lighting demos (Bogen – 2:15 on Wednesday and Westcott 1:30 on Thursday) on the tradeshow floor. Lastly I'll be doing a quick demo of the Wacom Intuos 4 in the Wacom booth (4:00 on Thursday)  too. Yep, it's going to be a busy week and I'm excited to go and see many of you there!

Don't forget to download the Photoshop World App

It's FREE! Learn more about it and get it here.

See you in class!

Thanks Joburg for an Amazing Week!

I have to say that this was definitely one of the BEST events I've ever presented at. The Johannesburg crowd was fun, engaging and inspiring! A full house with standing room only. You guys rock!

Thank you for a great day and I'm looking forward to coming back to Johannesburg and also going to Cape Town and Durban again.

The line to get in was around the building!

Ask a CS Pro Session via Facebook

One thing that I was really delighted by was the Live "Ask a CS Pro" session via Facebook on Friday morning. This was a great way to answer questions from South Africa and around the world LIVE. We'll definitely look at doing more of these going forward.
