I Started at Adobe 20 Years Ago Today

TW-Adobe_20year_award

Prior to joining Adobe July 26th, 1996 I would change jobs about every two years out of sheer boredom. The last thing I would say about working for Adobe is that it’s “boring”. Unlike most companies there is always something NEW going on at Adobe. There are always new products, updates and projects in the works. I have had the great good fortune of being out front in front of the customers for the last twenty years and in many respects being the face of the company as I have the largest social media following of any other employee.

When I started at Adobe, Photoshop 3.0 (Not CS3) was the current version

It’s amazing to think back to a time when Photoshop didn’t have layers. The 3.0 version released in 1994 was the first version that offered Layers and in November 1996 4.0 came out with Adjustment Layers. Certainly a LOT has happened in the last 20 years and I’ve seen it all. I’ve seen products come and go, services come and go and even companies come and go. While there was certainly a time when Adobe’s future was uncertain, I never really worried about Adobe not succeeding. Aside from the amazing technologies that we take for granted today, the biggest reason that I never really worried is that Adobe has always had top notch talent working at all levels of the company. It is a culture of passion and creativity.

Extremely Honored to Have Been Inducted into the Photoshop Hall of Fame Last Week

creative_cloud_2014

One New Years Resolution completed. At the beginning of the year I promised to deliver a new Adobe Creative Cloud Tutorial each day during the month of January starting on January 2nd. I’m happy to say that my 30 Days of Creative Cloud Tutorials are done and have been very well received! At last count the video have had over 80,000 views and climbing. I also received lots of direct feedback on Twitter and my Facebook page. Most of the tutorials focused on the questions I get every day over and over again. I also took the liberty of working in mobile workflows wherever I could. Of course I’ll continue to do more throughout the year and cover new features as they are added to Creative Cloud. In the mean time, check out what you’ve missed here in this playlist featuring all 30 videos:

My First Session at HOW Design Live Rocked!

There’s nothing like showing up to do a session at a conference and seeing 400+ empty chairs. Your first thought is “Oh my God, I hope people attend this thing!” Well I must say that not only did have close to 400 people in my session yesterday at HOW Design Live, but it was the right 400 people. Like most presenters I draw my energy from the crowd. The better the crowd responds the more it will help me to do a better presentation. I had an hour to show: “Create Cutting Edge Websites. No Code. No Kidding”. Of course this session was all about Adobe Muse CC.

Judging by the number of mentions on Twitter, the crowd LOVED IT!

Thanks again to all who attended and I’ll see you again today same time for “Adobe Creative Cloud Time Saving Tips and Tricks.” If you didn’t get a chance to attend my session here at HOW Design Live 2014 in Boston, you can check out my getting started video on Adobe Muse CC here:

What I’m Teaching Next Week at Photoshop World Vegas

PSW-Vegas-Wed

Let’s do it again. Time for me to head to Photoshop World West, which takes place this week in Las Vegas Nevada. I’m looking forward to seeing you all there and I’ve got some new classes on tap that I’m excited about. I’ll be teaching two classes on the conference track. The 1st is my usual “Intro to InDesign” and I’m doing a new class on my “Lightroom Workflow from Start to Finish”. I’m also doing a new class that is being added as we speak called “Easy Website Creation”, which is focused around Adobe Muse CC and as usual I’ll be in the Adobe booth from time to time giving sessions on Creative Cloud (Wednesday thru Friday). Based on the huge success of my “How To Create Websites with Adobe Muse” from the Orlando show, they’re repeating it this year again on the show flow in the Kelby Theater on Thursday at 4PM.

I’ll also be in the Westcott booth from time to time. So I’ve got a pretty packed schedule, but it’s one of the few conferences each year that I really really look forward to. Be sure to stop by and say hello. Also be sure to grab the newly redesigned Photoshop World iOS App for your iPhone, iPad and iPod touch complete with iCloud syncing.
