Where can I get the cool Adobe pillows?

Every time I show a shot of an Adobe office (like the Hong Kong office above – sorry for the upside down ID Pillow on the left) I get a flurry of questions on social media asking where can I get those?

Good news! You can order them right here.

They added a LR pillow recently. I hate to inform you that it may be out of stock at the moment as I just snagged the last two;-)

Cheers and happy decorating.

The 2015 Release of Adobe Creative Cloud is Here!

Adobe_Creative_Cloud

All new versions of your favorite Adobe creative applications are here! As you might expect it has been a busy few months for me not only getting up to speed on all that’s new for Design and Photography (the areas I focus on), but also creating content so that you can get up to speed quickly.

Before we get to the content let’s talk about installation

Screenshot 2015-06-15 10.52.49

Last year when we released the 2014 Release of Creative Cloud there was a lot of confusion because the installer installed the new CC 2014 apps along side your existing CC apps. People didn’t know if they needed to keep the older apps installed or not. This time around the powers that be have decided that it’s best to “uninstall” your older CC applications by default. Of course you can choose NOT to do this if you want to hang on to your older applications. My colleague Jeff Tranberry has done a great job outlining what’s going here.

What’s NEW in the 2015 Release of Adobe Creative Cloud?

I just released 25 NEW videos outlining the individual top features of Photoshop CC, InDesign CC, Muse CC, Lightroom CC and the updated Mobile Apps. I put them all in a single playlist to make it easy on ya:

I’m off to bed now. Enjoy!

I’ve Released the Video You’ve Been Asking for the Most

After_Effects_totem

I’ve been doing video tutorials since 2006 and I mostly concentrate on the Adobe’s design and photography products. However, I do dabble in the video tools too. Last May I thought it would be helpful to my followers if I released a How To Get Started with Adobe Premiere Pro CC – 10 Things Beginners Want to Know How To Do. Little did I know then that it would rise to the number three spot of my top 10 most watched videos each month with close to a quarter million views to date. Of course the other side effect was that I got tons of requests to do one on After Effects. While I use Premiere Pro CC on a somewhat regular basis, I haven’t really used After Effects in several months. I didn’t let that stop me from answering the call and yesterday I released the long awaited How To Get Started with Adobe After Effects CC – 10 Things Beginners Want to Know How to Do. This video like its sister video has already had a large number of views in less than 24 hours. You asked for it, here it is:

The February 2015 Updates of Adobe Muse CC and Adobe InDesign CC

I also recently released videos covering the latest updates of Adobe Muse CC and Adobe InDesign CC. Check them out:

B&H Photo and Video now sells the Adobe Creative Cloud Photography Plan

That’s right you can buy a year of Adobe Creative Cloud for photographers, which includes Adobe Photoshop CC, Lightroom 5 and Lightroom Mobile. You can get it here:

30 Days Later – 30 NEW Adobe Creative Cloud Tutorials

creative_cloud_2014

One New Years Resolution completed. At the beginning of the year I promised to deliver a new Adobe Creative Cloud Tutorial each day during the month of January starting on January 2nd. I’m happy to say that my 30 Days of Creative Cloud Tutorials are done and have been very well received! At last count the video have had over 80,000 views and climbing. I also received lots of direct feedback on Twitter and my Facebook page. Most of the tutorials focused on the questions I get every day over and over again. I also took the liberty of working in mobile workflows wherever I could. Of course I’ll continue to do more throughout the year and cover new features as they are added to Creative Cloud. In the mean time, check out what you’ve missed here in this playlist featuring all 30 videos:

Happy New Year! I made a resolution to try to do even more video content this year and I thought of a way to stick to it. Starting today I’m releasing a new video tutorial each day for the next 30 days. These videos will be probably be shorter than my average videos concentrating on one or two techniques each. They will also cover a range of Creative Cloud applications including the Creative Cloud desktop app and the mobile apps as well. These videos will be delivered exclusively on my YouTube channel with the best of the best also appearing in my app:

The Moleskine Smart “Creative Cloud Connected” Notebook

moleskin-smart-notebook-creative-cloud

As much as I love technology, for many artists nothing beats good ole pen/pencil and paper. Sure we can now sketch right on our iPads or draw with a Wacom tablet right on our computers. However, if you just love the feel of paper then you’ll really like the NEW Moleskine Smart Notebook, which is now Creative Cloud connected. The idea is simple, draw with whatever tools you like to draw with in your notebook. Once you have your analog masterpiece on the page, fire up the companion app on your smartphone and capture your drawing. Once you capture it the app will automatically detect the alignment points on the page and align as well as fix the perspective of your drawing in the app. Next you can process the image and convert it to vectors. Lastly with one tap you can upload both the original capture as a JPG and the vector conversion as .SVG which you can open in Adobe Illustrator and edit the vectors.

Rather than continue to describe it, here’s a video from start to finish:

You can get the Moleskine Smart Notebook here.

You can get the companion App here:

Bugs Corrected in Lightroom 5.7

  • The crop overlay displayed an intermediate step when progressing through images in the filmstrip with overlay displayed.
  • The lens profile for the Canon EF 16-35mm f/4 would not auto-select when using Lens Profile Corrections.
  • ICC profiles resulted in incorrectly clipped shadows and blacks in Lightroom. Note that this is related to the issue identified here and only occurs on Mac OSX 10.9 and later
  • Fixed crash when rapidly adding corrections with the Spot Removal tool.
  • Fixed bug that prevented the Filter Brush cursor from displaying while changing brush size when the Graduated and Radial Filter overlay is turned off.
  • Improved quality of Camera Matching color profiles for the Nikon D810. Fixes visible banding issues with the Camera Standard, Camera Vivid, Camera Landscape, and Camera Monochrome profiles.
  • Context menu (right click on PC or control+click on Mac) was disabled for images contained in Lightroom mobile collections.
  • Fixed issue that prevented Lightroom 5 from reading Photoshop Elements 13 libraries.
  • Cover images set by Lightroom mobile were sometimes incorrectly reset by Lightroom desktop.
  • Sync with Lightroom mobile sometimes stalled when asset is added to same album on both LrM and LrD and later deleted
  • Resolved issue that caused Lightroom to crash when creating a Print and saving it to a mounted DVD directly inside Lightroom.
  • Publishing images to Behance using the Behance Publish Service has been restored.

My 2014 Holiday Gadget Gift Guide is Here and it’s an EPUB

2014HGGG-Mac-iPad-iPhone

Each year I put together my picks for the best Gadget Gifts to get that special someone on your Holiday Gift List. This year I decided to practice what I’ve been preaching and I’m releasing the guide as a cross platflorm interactive fixed layout EPUB 3.0 document as well as the web version. I built the the guide using Adobe InDesign CC. It’s interactive with videos, links and animation. The EPUB is a free download and while it’s focused on my top picks, you can access the full guide in the App as well (although it’s still being updated).

Yes, It’s Cross Platform!

The best part is that this year’s guide is completely cross platform and works on desktop/notebook computers as well as mobile devices. If you’re on a Mac, iPad or iPhone then you already have what you need to open it. The iBooks App that is native to Mac OS X and iOS works great with EPUB 3.0 documents. If you’re on Windows, Android or another platform you can download an EPUB 3.o reader here.

I’ll be releasing the full version of my 2014 Guide on the web next week.
