Jefferson Graham over at USA Today reviewed the Westcott Spiderlite TD6 Daylight Balanced Continuous Lights and gave me a call to see what I thought about them? His review just went up on USA Today (see it here) and he mentioned me in his article. He also showed a brief clip from my "It's All About The Light" video. Sweet! This made my day.
A Rewarding Experience At Help Portrait on Saturday
This past Saturday I got to participate in the world-wide Help-Portrait event! Although I knew that Help-Portrait would be worthwhile event to participate in and donate my time, I didn't realize just how special it would be. While it's easy to say we should help the needy, the help usually comes in the form of the basics, food, shelter, etc. Of course food and shelter are MOST IMPORTANT, but there is very little done to replace the other/smaller things that people lose or in some cases would otherwise never have. I saw families that lost EVERYTHING due to the tragedies in their lives. I saw mothers that never had any pictures of their children.

I was thinking about hosting my own Help-Portrait event at my studio, but then I got an email from Miriam Olsen asking if I wanted to participate in their event taking place in Lansing Michigan. I figured since this was my 1st official Help-Portrait event that it would be best to go to one that was already established.
Miriam did an EXCELLENT job coordinating all the volunteers and the event went off perfectly. We photographed 196 guests! There were 20 photographers, 62 volunteers, 63 families and over 50 CDs provided in addition to the prints there were done on the spot.
It was very rewarding photographing families that were in many cases having their photos professionally captured for the 1st time. Seeing their faces light up when they saw their images and knowing that these photos would be cherished for years to come.
I definitely plan to host my own event next year and I encourage you to host one, participate in one or simply photograph someone in need! I want to also thank Jeremy Cowart for not only coming up with this great idea but also growing it into a world-wide event.

What I’m Teaching at Photoshop World This Week
It's time for Photoshop World! It's this week in Las Vegas and I'll be teaching once again at this year's show. I've added two new classes and for whatever reason they didn't make the web schedule (hoping to get them corrected as we speak) I've also updated the information for my Intro InDesign & Facebook classes too.
- Introduction to Adobe InDesign CS 5.5
- Creating Interactive Portfolios for iPad, Android & Blackberry Tablets in InDesign CS5.5 – NEW
- Why you should be on Facebook (will talk Google+ too) Updated
- Using the iPad in a Photography Workflow – NEW (this class replaces my Importing Images into Lightroom class that's incorrectly listed on the schedule)
Don't forget to see me on the show floor as well. I have sessions scheduled in the Adobe booth as well as partner booths such as Westcott and Manfrotto.
See you this week and if you have an iOS device don't forget to grab the free PSW App here from the
Follow Me on Twitter, Add me on Google+ and Like me on Facebook for my live and up to the minute show updates!
Happy Labor Day!
Trip Report: Light It, Shoot It, Retouch It with Scott Kelby
What do I do on my week off? I hop in my car and drive 4 hours up to Toronto to see Scott Kelby do his "Light It, Shoot It, Retouch It Seminar".
It's not often that I get a chance to actually sit in on someone else's classes. I go to Photoshop World twice a year and I see a list of great glasses, taught by world class instructors and then I sigh because I know that either the class I want to take is happening at the exact same time as one of the classes I'm teaching or I have some other show duty that prevents me from attending.
This means that when I have an opportunity to take another instructor's class, I grab it!
I would dare say that I've learned most of what I know about photo retouching through my buddy Scott over the years and although I'm quite comfortable doing portrait retouching I'm always eager to learn something new.

Thanks Sao Paulo Brazil!
Wow! Thanks Brazil for a fantastic day. You guys rock and were definitely one of the most energetic crowds we've presented to to date. We're all pumped and can't wait to come back.
It was great to start the day with young 13 year old Breno on stage to kick things off with a Content Aware Fill demo.
Thanks again Brazil!
We look forward to seeing you all in Mexico City Tomorrow. Be sure to search/follow the #CS5Evolves hash tag on Twitter.
Thank You Warsaw, Amsterdam, Moscow, Istanbul, Sydney & Melbourne!
The second leg of our Adobe CS 5 Evolution Tour has ended and I'm getting geared up for South America next week. I wanted to take a moment to thank everyone who has participated in the tour those far. We've had a blast presenting to over 9,000 fans/customers thus far in the various regions around the world. In some cities the events were webcasted to thousands more who couldn't be there in person. The tour has been a great success thus far and I'm really looking forward to continuing it next week. Here are some highlights:
Six stops in 18 days!
This leg of the tour started off in Warsaw Poland with an amazing sold out crowd! People were literally lining the walls and sitting on the floor off to the side of the stage.
Photoshop/Camera RAW never looked so BIG!

A Great Day in Moscow
My Sincere Thanks goes out to the people of Moscow for making me feel welcomed and packing the house for our Adobe CS5 Evolution Tour! You guys were very gracious and enthusiastic. I was completely blown away by the laser light show intro (yes the typo in my name was fixed by the time they showed this to the audience):

Visiting Red Square
I was told that if I go to Moscow that it’s a crime not to visit Red Square. Therefore here are my random shots:

My Random Shots from Warsaw, Poland
I had some time last night and walked around Old Town here in Warsaw. Here are a few random shots from my walk.

Adobe CS5 Evolution Tour Pt 2 Kicks off in Warsaw
I just had to take a moment and thank the crowd in Warsaw that came out in full force for the Adobe CS5 Evolution Tour! We had an over capacity crowd of 800+ people with many sitting in the aisles. While it was unfortunate that Jason Levine and Greg Rewis couldn't make it due to flight delays and missed connections, Michael O'Neil from the UK and Paul Trani did a good job picking up the slack for the Video and Web presentations.
Me and Michael (or Michael and I)
Glad I brought enough door prizes for everyone. However, I forgot to tell them to look under their chairs.
