Adobe Lightroom 3.2 & Camera RAW 6.2 are here – Smugmug users rejoice!

You might remember last week when I posted my video showing how to publish your photos to Facebook directly from Lightroom 3.2, well now that Lightroom 3.2 is officially out I can also tell you the same exact publishing feature is there for Smugmug users too! That's right if you're on Flickr, Facebook or Smugmug you can now publish your photos directly to any of these popular services directly from Lightroom. Even if you shot in RAW, Lightroom will make JPGs and upload them for you all in the background.

It adds camera support for:

  • Casio EXILIM EX-FH100 (DNG*)
  • Leica S2 (DNG*)
  • Panasonic DMC-FZ100
  • Panasonic DMC-FZ40 (FZ45)
  • Panasonic DMC-LX5
  • Pentax 645D
  • Samsung NX10
  • Samsung TL500 (EX1)
  • Sony A290
  • Sony A390
  • Sony Alpha NEX-3
  • Sony Alpha NEX-5

This update also adds support for a ton of new Lens Profiles and several bug fixes.

  1. Thank you
I’m having a problem installing the update “Camera 6.2”, every time I try it give me a message “Update is no applicable”. Googled it but there is no good answer.

          1. Thank you Terry, I tried using the updater and it worked like a charm, I really appreciate your help.
Can I be greedy and ask you one more thing, I had this problem since I installed the CS5, whenever I’m trying to open a Raw from bridge file with (Ctrl + R) it give me a message “Camera Raw editing is not enabled”!
            Thanks in advance

  2. Hey Terry,

This is a great post! Lightroom 3.2 finally here! Yeah! πŸ˜‰

Thanks for the info, I am going to add the information on PhotoshopLightroomBridge.co.uk as well to spread the word about the update.

    All best!

  3. Good post Terry. Also excited that the Mobileme plugin from Alloyphoto now works in lightroom 3.2. I was waiting for that one, I love mobileme and lightroom and didn’t want to have to use the web to upload photos or go back to iPhoto to complete the task. I just left iPhoto for lightroom, why would I want to go back?

  4. Hurray for SmugMug! I am so excited I will be able to make edits after the fact. That is just amazing. And thanks for reposting the video. You wouldn’t believe how quickly I forget. I was scratching my head yesterday about how to use the publish feature with SmugMug … totally forgetting about your video! Can’t wait to upload my next batch of photos.

  5. Thanks for the heads up–it’s a feature I might have overlooked since so many times i figure they’re routine updates–just got started with SmugMug–very happy about this

  6. For those of us that have slow or medium speed ADSL or broadband ( fast internet)
A solution needs to be found so we can actually view or watch the training videos on Adobe TV. Its hard to find where to try and tell somebody so I followed links here.
As an example I have 256 speed ADSL broadband. I have no need to upgrade and pay more for my service. so I will not upgrade to go faster or download quicker!
The other issue is that once the page loads, I have no way to stop the video trying to play, and it is not only annoying, and painful to listen to but it makes it hard to focus on reading the rest of the page. Please fix it for those thousands of us that can’t watch it with out pain!

Hopefully my comment helps, and it would be fantastic if we could all watch the Adobe TV videos, I’m sure there is heaps of exciting things to learn.
By the way, I’m an absolute beginner to Adobe Creative suite. I have been using competitors products for years, and I am so glad I switched to Adobe, and the products are by far superior. I am just angry with myself for not looking at the wonderful Adobe products years ago.

  7. This update addressed a bug that was absolutely driving me crazy. In 3.0, when you would take a Raw photo from Lightroom to Photoshop and make edits, the Photoshop file that got saved back had none of the attributes (star rating, label, flag status) of the RAW file. That meant that once I made edits, I had to immediately go find the Photoshop file and give it all the attributes of the RAW file. Huge pain in the rear. Thankfully, I don’t have to do that anymore.

I haven’t downloaded the update for my laptop yet, but I’m hoping that this update will address performance issues that I was having with it. Lightroom 3.0 was exponentially slower than any of the 2.0 versions, almost to the point of being unusable. Poking around on the forums, I found a lot of other people were suffering as well. Hopefully the problems have been worked out.

  8. Is there any where I could find documentation on how to create a Publish Service ?

I would love to be able to update my NAPP portfolio via this method.
