Photoshop For Photographers Deal OPEN TO EVERYONE #blackfriday

Photoshop-for-photographers

As you may know Adobe announced a deal for photographers to get Adobe Photoshop CC, Lightroom 5, 20GB of cloud storage and a Behance Prosite (professional customizable online portfolio – see mine here) for $9.99/month. However, with that deal you had to be a previous owner of Photoshop CS3, CS4, CS5 or CS6. Unfortunately this excluded Education, Elements owners and Suite customers. If you wanted this deal, but didn’t meet the qualifications, you’re now in luck! That’s right from NOW through (UPDATE) ย 12/2/2013ย 12/31/2013 you will be able to sign up for the Photoshop For Photographers Deal no matter if you’ve ever owned Photoshop or not! This is your chance to get in on the best deal for Photoshop CC and Lightroom 5 as the price of $9.99/month is the price! It’s not an introductory price that goes up in a year, it’s the price.

  1. Thanks Terry, I’ve been waiting for this. Lightroom came with my Leica and I’ve been wanting to learn Photoshop. As an owner of CS2 who never upgraded this is a big deal for me.

    Thanks again!

      1. Ca, US, the online chat with customer service guy said it. Couldn’t get a call and they haven’t called back yet. “This offer is available to customers who own a previous commercial version of Photoshop or Photoshop Extended, version CS3 or later (CS3.x, CS4, CS5.x, or CS6).”

        1. Hi James. I just entered a case for you (if you’re the same James Forbes that DMed @Photoshop on twitter). Someone will be in touch.

  2. Terms say:
    “Renewal
After the first 12 months, we will automatically renew your contract based on the current price of the offering.”

So when you say “Itโ€™s not an introductory price that goes up in a year, itโ€™s the price.” …where did you get that info?

    1. Correct. We are not providing a price lock โ€“ it might be $10.49 or $10.99 or still $9.99 in 2015 or 2016 or whatever based on inflation โ€“ but it is not an introductory price (like $29.99 for the complete plan, which goes up to $49.99 in year 2).

      1. Glad to hear that. What if Adobe cancels this plan in 3-4 years? Will we have to pay for the complete plan?

    1. Feel free to contact me via twitter @jtranber or jtranber at adobe dot com if you haven’t received your call back by the EOD

  3. I use Photoshop about once or twice a month … while I love the tools this is still tough to justify at that end of the spectrum (especially if it looks like it can jump up to any number after the first year). Sadly the Adobe pricing has pushed me into not upgrading as often or looking for alternative tools for a lot of what I need ๐Ÿ™

    1. Elements 12 is a really powerful tool that works well with Lightroom 5. Elements 12 has pano stitching, layers, content aware retouching, layer masking, etc)

Both are relatively cheap and pack a ton of power when paired together.

  4. Oh the phone with them now, they’re telling me there is a cancellation fee for cancelling the $19.99 monthly plan.

    1. There shouldn’t be a cancellation fee if you want to switch. Feel free to contact me via twitter @jtranber or jtranber at adobe dot com

  5. They consider moving to the $9.99 a downgrade from $19.99 will charge me to cancel the $19.99 plan.

    1. No. There’s no cancellation fee if you want to switch. Contact support and let ’em know you want to migrate to the new program.

  6. It does’t allow me to make a purchase. I’m not in the US, and I even could not buy anything from adobe before. When this will change? I’d like to buy a product but I can’t.

        1. Unfortunately, CC (and the Photography Program) isn’t available in all locales at this time. Stay tuned. We’ve added a number of locales since we first released.

  7. Awesome deal, perfectly timed. We paid for the year of ยฃ37/m full suite, it’s just ran out, so this is superb. ๐Ÿ™‚

  8. Terry, are you aware of a bug in Photoshop where the HDR Pro window does not display correctly on an Apple Retina display?

  9. Terry, I have Photoshop CS6 installed on my computer, if I also participate in this offer, can I keep CS6 on my computer? For instance, if price rises later on the subscription, I want to be able to use the CS6 that I bought and paid for!

  10. Terry, I currently pay $19.99 for the full CC suite, but REALLY only use Photoshop and Lightroom. I waited when the Photographer deal came out because I thought I would try out the suite before downgrading, maybe near December 31st. Problem is, with the new $9.99 package, it makes it much less appealing to keep the $19.99 suite for 8 more months, because then it goes to $49.99 and the $9.99 a month photographer package supposedly won’t be available. Any chance they could let those who have the $19.99 a month suite downgrade up until the end of their first year to the $9.99 photographer package? Otherwise I guess I should just do it now. $120 a year versus $600 a year for programs I rarely use doesn’t inspire me to keep the full suite or really give it a try. I DO appreciate what you are doing for professional photographers, but for some clients you might be losing money. I would probably keep the suite at $19.99 a month, but the future price difference is too great.

    1. Feel free to contact me via twitter @jtranber or jtranber at adobe dot com so I can try and help.

  11. The rep in the chat session canceled my $19.99/mo full cc subscription with no fees, and allowed me to sign up for the $9.99/mo subscription with no questions asked. very cool!

  12. Terry, can I email someone to change my plan? I have been waiting for 40 minutes and still 21 customers ahead of me

    1. Feel free to contact me via twitter @jtranber or jtranber at adobe dot com so I can try and help.

  13. Just had this message…….. so does that mean we do not qualify?

Q: I am already a Creative Cloud member. Do I qualify for this offer?

A: Customers who have already qualified as eligible to transition to this new program have already been informed. All other Creative Cloud members who meet the qualification requirements may contact Adobe Customer Service to discuss transitioning their membership to this new offer.

    1. What that item was covering was Single App subscribers who already own CS3-CS6 and were on the $9.99 single app promo. They were automagically transferred to this program when it originally went live earlier this summer/fall.

  14. Hi Terry, I’m from Portugal and I’m buying it now! The thing is, my payment has been processing for about 20 minutes now. Is this normal? The little adobe sign is still rolling around, so I presume the page is still active, but I’m starting to worry. Is there anyone I can contact on this? Thank you! ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Doesn’t sound normal, but you’d get a confirmation email if it went through correctly.

      1. It’s been about 35 minutes now, and still nothing. No confirmation e-mail either. What should I do, should I just restart the process?

      2. The process seemed to have stopped, so I restarted it. Now I’m waiting again. I’d just like to know who I can contact in case this attempt doesn’t work either. I’m a little bit afraid of trying it a third time with my credit card.

  15. It seems to be a great deal! Can I access it ? I own (my daughter..)a CS6 Design Suite for Student (bought @ McGill University Montreal Canada. With this plan I can have the Photoshop only program + Lightroom?
    Thanks for any info ๐Ÿ™‚

      1. There is something wrong I think ๐Ÿ™

We are canadian citizen now and we bought the CS6 here…. but after login I had this:
Annual plan โ€” โ‚ฌ12,29 per month, including applicable tax/VAT
but 9.9 US Dollar equals 10.35 CAD or 7.38 Euro….

  16. I’ve been waiting for a call back for days! My Cloud account was canceled because the credit card I had listed was compromised and canceled by my bank! I’ve been unable to give the updated information because I can’t get anyone to call me back!

    1. Feel free to contact me via twitter @jtranber or jtranber at adobe dot com so I can try and help.

  17. It is a bit misleading to tell people that the price will be the same after one year !!! In the terms of the contract you have to sign for the following:

    “Renewal

The price is valid for a full 12 months. After that, we’ll renew your
contract automatically, at the then-current price of the offering,
unless you cancel. The price is subject to change, but we will always
    notify you beforehand.”
Terry, you have to correct your statement ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Hi Sandor, this was already covered by Terry below. $9.99 is *the* price, not a first year promo. We canโ€™t say the price wonโ€™t *ever* go up sometime in the future to account for things like inflation. We also canโ€™t say the price wonโ€™t go down in the future either. For example, Lightroomโ€™s price was cut in half between Lightroom 3 and 4 โ€“ and Photoshopโ€™s price has gone both up and down over its 23 year history.

        1. On the 3rd of December, if you don’t own CS3-CS6 you won’t be able to sign up any longer. The price doesn’t go up -The offer just goes away for those that don’t own CS3-CS6 Those that purchase will continue to have the $9.99 price.

Customers who own CS3-CS6 have until the end of the year to sign up for the offer.

  18. And,if it’s working out of the Cloud,is it usable if not connected to the Web? as like if i’m going on an outing where i have no Web acces, will i still be able to work on my raw files?

    1. Photoshop CC downloads and installs on your hard drive just like Photoshop always did. You do NOT have to be constantly connected to the internet to use it.

Adobe linked my Canadian CS6 to my old Photoshop bought in Italy (more than 15 years ago) and don’t let me change address and country …. This is the reason for the euro, but the price un dollar is completely different due to different tax. From approx US$ 11.40 to 17 US$!!!

  20. WHAT IF I ALREADY OWN LR5,IS THERE A CHANCE THAT IF I DROP THE SERVICE IT WILL MAKE MY COPY NOT WORK?

  21. Why does it cost โ‚ฌ12,29 in europe… doesn’t it have to be the same amount or at least near the $9.99. Don’t get me wrong โ‚ฌ12,29 is still acceptable but it is $80 more per year…

  22. If I sign up for this, I am planning on getting a laptop SOON will all this download on that and my desktop??

  23. Is there any way we can cancel an existing single-app subsrciption and sign up for this deal without having to phone or chat with an agent?

    1. Feel free to contact me via twitter @jtranber or jtranber at adobe dot com so I can try and help.

  24. I’m sorry to say this but anyone who can actually sit down and think about this for more than 10 seconds will realise that moving from an ownership model to a subscription model is a terrible deal. Ask yourself a couple of quick questions.
    1. Has Adobe introduced the subscription model so that they can earn MORE from their customers or LESS from their customers? – You decide that one
    2. Why has the price kept reducing over the last few months?
Under the ownership model you had to pay a fairly large sum to buy it – I grant you that, but then you owned it – no one could take it away from you. Under the subscription model, the moment you stop paying you lose all access to it and all it’s features … finished – gone – the end. You can’t make do with what you had at the time – the clock is wound back to the beginning and you lose it all.
Get a piece of paper and a calculator and start to work out exactly how much money you will pay to Adobe over the years – it will shock you, even assuming no increases in costs. But of course the costs will go up.
The price being advertised at the moment is almost irrelevant – what they need to do at this moment in time is to lock you in to the system – once you are in you will then have no choice but to keep paying if you want to continue.
My advice, buy CS6 – even if you have to borrow to buy it. It’s a fabulous piece of software. Lightroom has great library software but if you have CS6 that includes ACR you don’t really need Lightroom.
The answer to the question why has the price/entry criteria kept reducing over the last few months? Because take up hasn’t been as strong as they expected.
I’m a huge PS fan – the software is amazing – this subscription model does nothing for the consumer … it’s all about Adobe.
P.S. If you are really hard up try ‘GIMP’ software – it’s fairly good and it’s completely free

    1. I’m not a bean counter but prices have gone up and down over the years. Lightroomโ€™s price was cut in half between Lightroom 3 and 4 โ€“ and Photoshopโ€™s price has gone both up and down over its 23 year history. Membership prices have gone down over the 3 versions since they were introduced in CS 5.5 as more and more customer have moved to this model.

      1. Fair points Jeffrey. I think the real problem (for me) is perpetually paying for something you will never own and that disappears the minute you stop paying. I have heard some people say that this is the future for software generally. I hope and pray it isn’t.

  25. A month ago I upgraded for a hefty price of $200 just so I could sign up to pay $ 9.99 for life.Once again Very Well Played Adobe. What are my chances of getting my $200 back?

    1. If you purchased that recently from adobe.com you should be able to get a refund. Feel free to contact me via twitter @jtranber or jtranber at adobe dot com so I can try and help.

  26. It says its open for everyone but I cannot go through the purchasing unless I have a serial number for a previous CS. Any tips?

    1. Feel free to contact me via twitter @jtranber or jtranber at adobe dot com so I can try and help.

  27. I just signed up. Being told to hit the download button. When I do, I get the following message:

You’re downloading the Creative Cloud desktop application, which you will use to install your trial version of Photoshop.
Trial version? Further down it says:

With your Adobe ID, you can download additional software trials as part of your free Creative Cloud membership.

    Any idea what’s going on?
    Thanks.

      1. I will try that. Thank you. And thanks for the heads up about the sweet deal. I had been thinking about it for awhile and decided to pull the trigger. Thanks – I appreciate it.

  28. If after a year the price went up dramatically and I chose not to renew, would my CS5 still be useable?

    1. Your CS5 is still usable. Signing up for or canceling a Photoshop Photography Program membership does not affect any perpetual licenses you have owned in the past.

        1. Hi again Jeffrey,
I completed the payment form but it seemed to get stuck in a perpetual loop of waiting a few minutes while your payment is being processed. Do you know if this is a common problem and how to resolve it? Thatnk Jen

          1. Hi Jen,

Not a common problem, but I did have one customer say they saw this. They tried again a bit later and it went through. Feel free to contact me if it doesn’t go through and we’ll get you set up.

  29. Great Deal but my concern is After the first 12 months, we will automatically renew your contract based on the current price of the offering. We don’t know what that price could be.

  30. Hi Terry/ Jeffrey,

I signed up with Adobe a few days ago for the Photographer Package and have a few questions.
If I can get my subscription cancelled, will I need to download everything again?
Will I still get all the updates etc. from Adobe as per normal?
How are you able to offer the Photography package at a similar price in a years time yet Adobe’s price will be double this?
On the face of it Terry, I’d be quite happy to change as I’ve already been following your tutorials.
You are only offering a deal on the Photographer cc, right? Not the other Adobe offerings.
    Many thanks for your help.

  31. I am trying to sign up, but it says “We don’t have any registered products associated with this Adobe ID”

I am currently using Lightroom 5, but I don’t have photoshop. Am I eligible?

    1. Sorry for the confusion. First off YES you’re still eligible for the deal through today Dec 2. However, it appears that the website reverted back to the previous restrictions that are supposed to go in place tomorrow after the deal is over. They are working on the site. However, if it’s not fixed within the next hour, feel free to contact Adobe customer care by phone to sign up.

  32. I purchased the $9.95 Creative Cloud Photoshop For Photographers Deal because I thought it was a good deal for Lightroom and the 20GB of cloud storage to allow syncing between a MacBook and iMac. I don’t use Photoshop and don’t plan to. I just don’t need it. However, it seems the 20GB of storage only applies to WIndows users. My OS X 10.9 version says “Coming Soon”.
