iPhone App of the Week – BF Deals

BFdealsicon

It's almost Black Friday! The day of madness and retail shopping. Actually with the economy the way it is, I welcome it this year. Go out and buy stuff PLEASE!

Of course you probably want to know where all the deals are. So I thought I would get you ready by giving you an iPhone app to use to keep up on all the potential savings.

BF Deals

BF Deals is an iPhone/iPod touch app that dynamically pulls in the RSS feeds from all the popular Black Friday Websites. Well that's not really all that exciting. You could do the same thing with your own RSS reader. However, this app goes over and above by providing lots of useful features.  First off you can enable Push Notifications to see the deals as they come in.

Once you see a deal in the list you want to investigate further, you can just tap on it to see the details.

The next thing I like is that you can tie into the shopper community! You can take pics of deals as YOU find them and upload them. Of course you can see other people's pics too.

BF-map

The app has a built-in map and chat feature to chat with other users of the app and to see where the lines are or more importantly are NOT based on the amount of users in a particular area.

You can also share your findings on Twitter and Facebook directly from the App.

BF-checklist

Lastly and probably one of my favorite features is that you can add a checklist right in the app itself. This way you won't forget to get an item because you got wrapped up in the moment.

The Bottom Line

I try to avoid this madness as much as possible! I'm not a get up at 5AM and stand in a long line outside in the cold kinda guy. However, if you enjoy this experience and want to maximize your savings potential, this app seems to offer the most. Also remember that there will be online deals listed too. Those will be the ones that I'll be looking at.

You can get BF Deals here from the App Store:

Happy Shopping! Also don't forget to checkout my 2009 Holiday Gadget Gift Guide!

P.S. If you're going to be out there with an iPhone this holiday season doing your shopping, you should probably arm yourself with a price comparison app. My favorite is RedLaser, however you should also check out ShopSavvy (FREE) and Save Benjis.

You gotta love the BF Deals startup screen! It reminds me why I don't get wrapped up in this annual event 🙂

  1. Hi Terry,
I really enjoy your blog and look at it every day. You are pleading with us to go out and buy something. I would and the first thing I would buy would be Photoshop CS4. Except…………….. It Costs Too Much!
I have the original Premium CS Suite. I don’t use anything but the Photoshop part of it, but to upgrade, I have to upgrade the whole Suite. And Adobe is pricing themselves out of the market. So I will look elsewhere — Pixelmator, GIMP or something that is within reason. I really would like CS4 but it is not in the picture (pun intended). Maybe Adobe should have a Black Friday special.
    Thanks,
    John

  2. Hi Terry, I am off topic here. Have you ever reviewed Pentax K-7 DSLR camera? Or had hands on it? It seems this new dslr blows the competition with nice features. Have any thoughts on it?

  3. Replaced my hard drive { computer crashed }, if I sink my Iphone 3GS, how much of the ringtones, app store apps, photos, contacts or better yet what will be lost?
