I heard others rave about this book and after reading this review, I couldn’t wait to get my copy which was already on order. The Moment It Clicks by world famous photography Joe McNally is PHENOMENAL. I’ve only just started reading it and I can’t really get into reading it just yet because I’m totally distracted by the amazing photography throughout the book. I find myself wanting to thumb through the book again and again just to see the pictures.
I hope to one day be 1/10th as good as Joe. This book has inspired me on many levels to be more creative and not be afraid to try new techniques. I highly recommend it. I do warn you that you may not get much else done for wanting to stare at the imagery throughout this book.
Amazon has it for $32.99 ($54.99 USA list) and it’s already one of their best sellers. Also check out Joe’s new blog which is in "My Favorite Blogs" down below on this page.
Hi Terry!
I heard about Joe McNally’s new book from your friend Scott Kelby’s blog. I don’t really buy books on Photography that much, but I have to admit that I’m very interested in Joe’s book! There are two main reasons for this: 1, I would only go for books recommended, or published by either yourself or Scott Kelby, because you are all in the ‘know’ about cutting-edge stuff. And secondly, there’s just sooo many other photography books out there that I would be wasting a lot of my money on, being a-washed with so much in the way of conflicting advice!
I haven’t seen a copy of this book yet here in the UK, but I will however make a point of taking a look if its on sale here.
The other thing I wanted to mention while I’m here is that I enjoyed watching your latest Podcast about Adobe’s DNG Format! I too shoot in RAW format most of the time myself, not only because of its flexibility, but the fact that I can reduce the file size and convert it to an ‘Open Standards’ format without losing any quality whatsoever of the original file. It works for me big time!
Oh, and just to tell you that I will be investing in Nikon’s fantastic new D300 and some lenses, also a MacBook Pro later on this year. I’m saving up and looking forward to that!
Take care!
Hey Terry…many, many thanks for the kind words. Coming from someone with your standing in this industry, it means a lot. Glad you enjoyed the book. A lot of that stuff had been rattling around in my head for a long time, and thanks to Scott giving me the kick in the butt I needed to write it down, I got it done (before too many years go by and I forget everything:-)
All best, and see you at PSW! Thanks again, Joe
