Russell Brown has done it again! He has released his FREE Watermark Panel for Photoshop CS5. You can download it here for Mac or PC.
Hey! Since we're giving Russell Brown some love today, check out his very cool video on doing 3D text in Photoshop CS5 here:

Hi Terry,
Thanks for posting Russell’s Watermark Panel. This post carries on perfectly from RC’s over on Scott’s blog yesterday all to do with Protecting you online images.
Clearly ‘Content Aware Fill’ has made alot more people sit up and think about their images being ‘stolen’ despite having a watermark or a copyright symbol on them but as RC alluded to, being able to remove parts of a photograph has always been possible in Photoshop; it’s just that Content Aware Fill has speeded the process up quite considerably.
Personally I no longer place a watermark across my online images but prefer to place my logo underneath and this is just a personal choice however I guess having a watermark is a deterrent if nothing else.
Thanks again and all the best to you,
Glyn
Hi Glyn, I guess I look at it a bit differently than the NAPP guys do. I don’t look at my watermark as a deterrent to keep someone from stealing the image because I’ve always known how easy it is to remove a watermark even before Content Aware Fill. I look at it as a more of a branding exercise than anything else. Since my shots are often displayed on the model/clients sites it just makes it easy for someone to know who shot it at first glance. I have even been fading it back more lately to make it much more subtle.
What about CS4 … ?? is there such panel for those who can’t afford to upgrade to the CS5 … 😛
thanx
Yes, there was a panel for CS4 as well. Not sure where it lives today but I would start at russellbrown.com
If you want to use a similar watermark tool with CS4, then you can locate it on my web site.

Look for the Watermark Creator 1.0.7
thanks for the notice, and thanks to Russell Brown for the panel…
I love Russel Brown Videos!! XD
Great tool, thank you Russell and Terry 🙂
Do you guys have any preference to watermark vs logo ? or is it better to leave the actual image alone and create a small border with the information on it? I’m thinking of more for advertising than I am a deterant for stealing the image. If figure if the thief knows what they are doing, there’s nothing I can really do to keep the image safe on the internet other than not posting it in the first place.
Thanks guys 🙂
Michael

Hi, I just installed the watermark plugin, version 2.06 and when trying it out in Cs5, hitting preview I get this message, “error: input folder does not exist.:80”
Any help? Thanks.
