Once again I'm addressing a question from my Facebook Fan Page. In this episode I'll show you how to work with both object layers and pixel layers in the various Adobe Creative Suite 5 products. See how to use layers in InDesign CS5 and then see how to composite with Layers in Photoshop CS5.

  1. Hey Terry, thanks for taking the time to explain layers. I’ve only recently moved beyond Aperture 3 for my post production. Right now I’m using Gimp (mac) because it’s free 🙂 but I can interpolate a lot of this.

    Thanks again, huge help!

  2. I’ve enjoyed all of her your vids but this has to be my new favorite. It just so happens that I’m working on a 5-photo composite. I was pulling my hair out trying to get them to blend. Amazing that you would do a composite to teach us about layers. Also, I’m still using CS3. You’ve convinced me to spend the money on CS5 as well. Thanks again.

  3. Awesome video. Loved it. Just what I needed. Now that I’m really comfortable in Lightroom 3, I’m tackling Photoshop CS5. I have an elementary grasp of layers, but your video really helped me understand the different types – AND you actually made it clear when to choose black and when to choose white in a layer mask. I finally get it! (At least I think I do.) Black hides what you don’t want to see … white reveals it. I get it. Yay! You covered so much ground in such a short video. Thanks, Terry!

  4. I have taken In-Design in class and we did layer, but to the extent that you did. Now I understand alitte more better and know that there is alot more that you can do with layers. I really enjoyed your Photoshop demo using layers. I can not wait to my class and to know that was my favorite one. Your videos will be a great help to me as I learn Adobesoftware and practice what you demostrate in your vidoes.

You will be my second teacher.
