Creative Suite 5 is NOW SHIPPING! Trial Download Available Too

There is no doubt that the launch of Adobe Creative Suite 5 has generated a LOT of buzz and excitement. One of the number one questions I get asked is "when it shipping?" The answer is TODAY! You can buy or upgrade here. Not only is Creative Suite 5 shipping today, but today marks the first day in Creative Suite history that the Creative Suite Trials are also available on the day of ship. Typically the trials lag several weeks behind the shipping product. However, you can get your CS5 groove on right now by downloading fully functional 30 day trials here

  1. Hi Terry,

Do you know if the Nik Plug in will be compatible with the 64 bit photoshop in CS5 for the Mac os.

I guess the plug in (on-one and Nik) are 32 bits and logically they should’t work in Photoshop CS5 unless we run photoshop in 32 bit mode….

    What do you think?

    Regards.

    1. I cannot speak to OnOne, but I have had lots of correspondence with NIK about their lack of 64bit support. They are ‘working on it’ for most products, but no projected date is available. Of course Viveza 2 DOES work in 64 bit — As do all the Topaz products.

In the meantime, NIK suggests, at least in my case, to alter my workflow, and install the NIK plug-in’s for LightRoom 64 bit — there, they work — but I notice “brushes” is not available in the LR plug-in’s.

  2. Fantastic new and absolutely superb video!!! As I said on John Nack’s blog, I had to put my mug of tea down for fear of doing myself a mischief πŸ™‚

    Cheers,
    Glyn

  3. I downloaded the trial this morning and it looks great. Here is the problem — I will be updating CS5 from CS4 but I will also be updating Lightroom 2 to LR3. Bundle update pricing has been avaialble from Adobe in the past. I don’t want to buy a PS CS5 update by itself if I can wait and get a bundle price later.
Do you believe bundle pricing for updating both CS5 and LR3 will be available and will it be available soon?

    1. I haven’t heard anything about bundle pricing. That doesn’t mean that there won’t be any, I just haven’t heard. So if I were you I’d hold off as long as you could. You have the trial for 30 days. You can wait at least that long.

  4. I’ll get a copy of CS5 Design Premium as soon as I get my new computer !

Terry, will some CS5 wallpapers be available soon for download ? I like the boxes and the branding !

    Thanks !

  5. Its very exciting…I’m hoping to have my piggy bank full by the mid summer to buy myself a new Mac/CS5 set up πŸ™‚ till then I just keep plugging away at my CS4. Its all good.

ok, what is cocoa? just when I think I’ve got all the jargon covered something like that pops up! lol

Oh Terry, I got this from Moose Peterson’s blog…
    http://www.apple.com/hotnews/thoughts-on-flash/
I’m curious to find out if anyone responds to it….
As Moose posted it does seem like Steve has hammered in the final nail on Flash…yikes.

I personally have learned to live without Flash on my iPhone…and more and more sites are created mobile friendly versions of themselves everyday.

Congrats to all those who are already workin’ their CS5

  6. Terry,

When you created your “5 Tips for iPad” book for iBooks, did you create it with InDesign CS5 PSremium? My wife has InDesign CS3 and needs to upgrade…she wants to create iBook presentations and wants to know which product to get.

    Thanks!

      1. In looking at the Adobe site. There are 2 versions: InDesign CS5 (Buy: $699 Upgrade: $199) & InDesign CS5 Premium (Buy: $1,899 Upgrade: $599). I’m confused on which one to get. Will the Cheaper one serve my needs and still give me the ability to create iBooks like you did for the “25 iPad Tips”? Thanks !

        1. One is “InDesign CS5” and the other is “Design Premium CS5” The later is the Suite containing Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Flash Catalyst, Dreamweaver, Flash, & Acrobat for $1,899.

  7. Great. One more thing. I tried to download the book to my iPad & got the error message “Download Failed – Safari cannot download this file”. Is this normal? Sorry to bug you with this…

    1. Jeff, you have to download it to your computer and install it via iTunes. You can’t download it directly to your iPad unless it’s on the iBookstore.

  8. Terry,
I have never been to an InDesign meeting before, but it was fabulous with you as a host. CS5 was a very eye poping experience for me last night. I had beeter learn how to use my computer now more than ever before. Question – You showed a function in CS5 last night about how you had your book published to the iPad. Can you look at something and tell me if it is possible. We have our brochure at http://www.D1Spas.com/brochure on the internet. We have the raw files, but do you think the same CS5 funtion that you used to publish you book could be used to publish this brochure to an iPad Book?

P.s – You must be working out in the pool, you looked great last night!

    Thanks!

    1. Robert, thanks. As far as your brochure goes, it looks great! However, for ePUB it’s not going to be as good because of the limits of ePUB and your brochure is very graphically rich and layout centric. So your choices would be deliver it as a PDF to keep the layout, make an HTML version of it that would work on the iPad and send people to it on the web or lastly and probably not cost effective, have it developed as an App. Honestly I would probably go with a PDF on the website and let people view online or download it.

      Thanks again!

      T
