Able Planet Noise Canceling Headphones – Video Review

nc200

It’s hard to be a frequent flyer and not own a pair of Noise Canceling headphones. Love them or hate them, the Bose Quiet Comfort 2’s seems to be the choice of most frequent travelers. So needless to say I was a little skeptical when the Able Planet Noise Canceling Headphones came across my desk for only $99. See what I liked about them and what I didn’t like about them in my video review:

The Bottom Line

For the money it’s hard to argue against the Able Planet Headphones. They have the features that I like in noise canceling headphones and the audio quality is respectable. If you can get by the hiss when no music/audio is playing then these would be the way to go for the price. You can get the Able Planet NC200 Noise Canceling headphones here for $49-$79.

  1. Hi Terry – off the subject but just to let you know that from my end there appears to be an ongoing problem with how your blog behaves in my RSS reader (Google Reader). Every single time I click on the one-line teaser to read more your feed opens up as a blank white page. Click refresh and it opens correctly and immediately. Yours is the only subscription I have that responds in this way (and I have about 50). Just thought I’d bring it to your attention in case it’s something you would like to fix.

    1. Carol, etc.
Got it! The RSS feed has been an ongoing issue and it’s really out of my hands. I’ll put in a trouble ticket to my ISP (again) and see if they can fix it.

      Thanks!

  2. I have the same problem. Using Mac Safari 4.03 with Google Reader. As with Carol, I only have this problem with your feed.

  3. I use the reader in Firefox and I have to refresh this at least twice to get it to show the latest entry

  4. I used to have this problem with Terry’s blog in Google Chrome (go figure!) when clicked on a link in Google Reader. Firefox works fine. I am on PC.

  5. I’m doing some experiments to see if there is something conflicting in stats configuration that has caused these issues. Having them as well. Let’s see in the coming few posts on how it develops!

Note: I’m not the host nor the ISP, just the designer of the current design here 🙂

  6. Hi Terry,

Those headphones you’ve just reviewed there sound pretty awesome! About that ‘hissing’ sound you mention when ‘Noise Cancelling’ is turned On, I don’t think I would personally have any problems with that as it would be an indication that the Noise Cancelling feature is working.

I think its great that Bose have some competition on those kinds of headphones, although I am a big fan of their stuff and I like the sound of the ones you already have, however they are as you say expensive, even here in the UK £299 I think.

  7. These noise canceling headphones sound awesome. I actually just bought a pair which work extremely well and im just soo happy that i bought them. They really do cancel out most the background noise. Two days ago was the first time i could ever sleep on an airplane, owing to these headphones. They were exceptionally good at blocking out the noise from passengers, the turbines and air- conditioning. This is where i got mine from Noise Canceling Headphones
