A Robot Cleans My Pool

It's not quite the Jetsons, but close enough for me. Yesterday, I did a post about my generator, so I thought I'd finish off the week with another piece on home automation and that's my iRobot Verro 300 pool cleaning robot. This is definitely one of my other favorite pieces of gear. Drop it in, let it sink to the bottom and turn it on. Walk away and in about two hours your pool is cleaned! It's a robotic pool vacuum and it works GREAT! I was amazed the first time I saw it climb the walls. I've had mine for about two years now and this is one of those things that if it died today, I'd be ordering a new one immediately. It's easy to use and maintain and takes one more chore out of my life.

Here's a short video of it in action (though it's not very exciting to watch šŸ™‚ )

  1. Memories! growing up IB NorCal, our large egg shaped pool was the site of many an hour of pool sweeper development. I saw the progression of the industry by Mr Arbeson (who went on to be a boat racer). From long metal arms to a self contained unit we called affectionately the octopus due to a series of long undulating hoses. The device set up water flow, out / into the filter and worked fabulously. Of corse I still had to skim the pool and fish out potato bugs everyday! Thx for the trip down memory lane! PS this was 50 years ago now!

  2. Polaris all the way… Kinda’ R2-D2 running every Summers 10 years and counting. Except for raccoons occasionally mistaking it’s floating hose as a plaything. Of course, here in Oregon, Summer just started last week. And just today I retrieved my wife’s convertible from “Winter” storage from a friend’s 12 car garage.
    Best.
