Well today is iPhone 3G S day and while I have a full review coming sometime this weekend (no later than early Monday morning), I thought I would share a first look at the outside of the iPhone 3G S in this video. Now keep in mind that the on the outside the iPhone 3G S is pretty much identical to the iPhone 3G form factor:

great idea terry doing a video unboxing.
looks identical to the regular 3G
Come back with that full report soon, Terry!! You’re the one I trust when it comes to such reviews.
How did Terry White qualify for the $299 upgrade pricing from the iPhone 3G?
official unboxing?
Scott,
by upgrading one of his original iPhones on his family plan.
Considering that path myself. In my case, it would mean upgrading the wife’s line, but selfishly, I want the new iphone for me… Sorry honey, someone must have rubbed the [S] of of your phone.
Thanks for answering the “not so smart questions, too”
Can’t wait for the full review and the updated “iPhone Book” available for the Kindle App. Don’t leave home without it.
thanks for one of the best blogs out there.
One thing I noticed Terry was the improved quality of the speaker over the first gen. iphone, which I owned. Very surprised that there hasn’t been more discussion on this topic. The improvement is ten fold at least.

I LOVE Apples attention to detail and style for their packaging. The fact theres a phone inside is a bonus.
would you be able to verify if iphone 3gs does have the “true email push technology” with gmail accounts or regular pop email accounts? without the enterprise set up nor without @me.com whereas with Blackberry, all of my domains with mx directory set up through google (similar as with gmail) push directly to my blackberry. Really hope this is true with iphone 3gs (still does not work with iphone 2g nor 3g)
Terry White. Can you do a Video review like the do on cnet.com?
Chris,
There will definitely be some video in my iPhone 3G S review. Stay tuned.
Terry, hurry up with that review! 🙂
Andrei,
Almost there, but it will likely not go up until Monday morning due to Father’s day tomorrow and meetings I have today. It will be worth the wait though 🙂
I noticed that it comes with the Apple headset that only partially works on the 3G, i.e. the +/- buttons don’t work (they’re supposed to control the volume).
Is this fixed on the 3G S?
Terry, I got the same phone as you yesterday and it is really a delight. Nice to see there is volume control in the headset, love the video, still need to check out the voice control.
Compass really works and the voice recorder is at least as good as the free app I had. Wish there were a couple more pages to keep apps grouped properly. And it still bugs me that the contact address info still defaults to alpha, not numeric. Just a simple software fix.
Overall, very cool. Looking forward to your review.
Great Father’s Day, huh.
Happy Space Invader,
I hadn’t even noticed that the new headset was included. Thanks! I did test them and YES, they now control the volume too. Nice bonus feature!
I have a new iPhone 3G S, and I was wondering if you know if there is a tripod or monopod built for the iPhone? Having one would sure improve my shooting video with my new iPhone better.

Terry, Great review. I read your Tech Blog just about everyday! I’m loving my new iPhone 3G S. Favorite new feature (compared with my original iPhone) is the Stereo Bluetooth. Works great in my car playing music wirelessly.
