Yesterday, I gave you my visual walkthrough of iPhone OS 3.0. These were the things that I had discovered so far. The good folks over at MacOSRumors have put together a list of the subtle changes that would be easily over looked. Some good stuff there. They’ve found over 90 things so far and the list is ongoing. Check it out here.
Thanks Jack for the tip!
Good to know that an iPhone 3G will do Bluetooth syncing of Contacts with a car. That suggests that the iPod touch just might sync with my iMac via Bluetooth. Unfortunately, their touch/3.0 page isn’t that clear on the topic:
http://www.apple.com/ipodtouch/softwareupdate.html
You’d think Apple could give us a simple statement that what the iPod 3Gs can do with Bluetooth, the iPod touch can do or, if not, give us a table of the differences.
I can understand why Apple might want to be mysterious before a release, but they seem to want the mystery to linger on afterward. That’s frustrating. I want a touch, but only if it’ll sync and browse the Internet via USB or Bluetooth like the iPhone GS. Living on a hilltop, WiFi has a bit too much range for security-sake. Bluetooth doesn’t even make it to the other end of my apartment.
Mike,
As far as I can tell the iPod touch doesn’t have Bluetooth (if the circuitry is there, Apple hasn’t turned it on). So that’s why you see no mention of Bluetooth capabilities on the iPod touch.
Terry,
The touch does have it. I played against my younger son a few days ago.
Settings>General>Bluetooth…….
hope this helps out.

Sorry, you’re right. I just never looked for Bluetooth on the touch. Missed that completely.
I will try pairing the iPod touch with my car and let you know what happens.

I tried pairing the iPod touch with my car today and sorry to report, it doesn’t work. It doesn’t even see my car as an option to pair with. My guess is that Apple probably figures that most people would have no reason to pair iPod touch’s contacts with a car if you couldn’t make calls since the iPod touch is not a phone.
Good post Terry.
I am pleased with 3.0 BUT it has now made my iphone 3G (’08 model) painfully slow in almost every application. (I have 4gb empty memory at the moment.)
3.0 was designed for the new iphone, not the old.
