My first blog post from my iPhone

I thought I would give the WordPress iPhone app a spin. It’s pretty cool so far and will enable me to blog on the go. I love the option to post photos from the built in iPhone camera or from one that’s in your library. Unfortunately it doesn’t allow you to position them where you’d like within your post.

I also don’t see a way to do hyperlinks.

It’s not perfect, but it gets the job done and it’s FREE!

The first shot was taken with my D300 and sent to the iPhone via email and then saved to the library. The shot was from the iPhone’s built-in camera and the last two were taken as iPhone screen shots of the WordPress app.

  1. Erik, I will give the plugin a shot. I like the fact that the native app can remember my site and password. I also like that it can integrate pics in from my phone/library. I already outlined in the post what I’d like to see handled better (links, image placement). I think the difference in the plugin vs. the app, is the plugin appears to be designed for one basic thing, allowing people to blog on the go. Whereas the plugin looks like it was designed to provide a mobile version of the WordPress management UI. So you’re probably a little disappointed in the app, thinking it was going to do more. For my needs the app does what I expected it to do which was give me a quick easy interface to blog from my iPhone. Having the plug-in to do MORE is a plus!

  2. Actually yeah what I figured now (after some hours of playing) is that one should have both! With the app I can post posts better (but sure would want the keyboard vertical…) with the images etc. but if I want the plugin will allow me to add/edit pages, manage comments etc. as well. I’d be happy if I could manage comments on the go as well, many do have it restricted (I don’t though) but sometimes it is definitely nice. The combo works really well and now does everything one could want (except neither can add those damn hyperlinks, haha).
