Having friends that use iPhone, and who use to swear by it – it seems most of them have now resorted back to their blackberrys…. now matter what, the roller-ball mouse and QWERTY keyboard is very handy.

I use Hahlo for twitter. And I actually do not have Twitter send SMS to my iPhone, it would drive me crazy.

I suppose ideally, you are tweeting your friends close by, to meet up later, but that is only one use of Twitter. Some people follow real maniacs on the tweets. I don’t want an SMS every five seconds… I want to read them when I choose.

I’m wondering about the IM clients the AppStore might have.

Being a Twitter user via my cell phone having to pay extra for Text/SMS is another deal breaker. My data only plan from T-Mobile is $29.99 per month and Text/SMS is included in that price. Last month I was just shy of 3000 Text SMS messages (I only sent 50 of those the rest were sent to me). $80 – $100 per month + $100 per year for MobileMe (also have this type of service in my $29.99 plan) is just way too much for a mobile phone service!

Thanks for the info Terry. After looking into it, one thing that may not be too clear in your article is that current AT&T iPhone users can get the 3G for the lower prices because the original iPhone wasn’t subsidized:

Since it would cost me almost twice what I pay for phone service (T-Mobile), I guess Apple will not get any money from me. And once someone steals the technology for some of the features (the voice mail list being the key feature) and markets it to all cell-phone companies, then I guess that company will get my money.
Pity, I would prefer to pay the people who invented it, but sadly, not at those prices.

Why do people do this! “Harder for some” like it is different some how. Who qualifies for the lower price? ANYONE WHO QUALIFIES FOR A LOWER PRICE ON ANY PHONE!!!!! Who does not? ONLY THOSE WHO HAVE ALREADY IN THE PAST YEAR HAD AT&T SUBSIDIES A PHONE AND EVEN SOME OF THEM WILL BE GIVEN SPECIAL CONSIDERATION!

But the total cost of the iPhone 3G will be higher!

Are there any 3G data plans that are cheaper than the $30 add from AT&T? Don’t get me wrong I would love to see Apple help fix the Cell Phone market the way they did with the online music market, but it has to be step by step. Show me a cheaper unlimited 3G data plan and I will lament the iPhone plan. But lets face facts. iPhone 3G is for serious mobile data users. If you don’t need that……buy an iPod Touch.

I don’t understand why it is only AT&T service. I can get AT&T in ND, but not 3G in most areas outside of our 8 major cities.

Apple would sell more if they would do Alltel (I have) Verizon, and others.

Just sell the iPhone at normal prices and be done with it.
Has’nt stopped you from selling gazillions of iPods.

I really, truly hope Apple will fail with this one.
They deserve it.
