I'm sure there's a lot of people who would benefit more from eSATA ports via ExpressCard than a SD card slot with MacBook Pro 15" because SD card reader is possible attach to a USB or FireWire but eSATA you can't add any way without ExpressCard.

Here's a ready copy & paste text for requesting ExpressCard (and eSATA) for MacBook Pro 15" (http://www.apple.com/feedback/macbookpro.html):

Please rediscover ExpressCard for MacBook Pro 15". We need SPEED for using external hard drives with professional laptops.

Thank you and happy new year!

heikkipekka,
Hi, I do plan to upgrade to a newer MBP this year. However, the only reason Apple would bring back the ExpressCard slot (or anything else they remove) is customer demand. I think they pulled it because the majority of the customers weren't using it. I know it's important for the reasons you outlined, but unless there are enough customers asking for it, it won't come back.

You say you have old MacBook Pro 15" and I guess you are upgrading this year. Me too but I wonder if ExpressCard slot is coming back to 15" (now it's only on 17" new Unibody MBP). I use ExpressCard to attach a 2 port eSATA to connect my external hard drives and that's the only thing I don't want to buy a new 15" MBP.

Do you have any opinion about waiting for new 15" model MBP to have ExpressCard? And thanks for all the great post on year 2009! Keep it up!

di-GPS Pro Nice gadget and more affordable when one chooses US dollars. I have the D-90 so would have to get the mini. Seems to lack some of the pros features. Is it still worth getting without these features?

Great list. I am getting a Wacom soon. Have the 3Gs, need the logitech.... and after 1 hour with the Apple Store Rep still do not see a need for ATV.

It seems to be the day to talk about the Apple TV. I have one of the first generation units and it rocks. It sees my home computer with a terra-byte full of music, movies and tv shows. Does it seamlessly and always seems to work.

(just needs a better remote)

ATV is indeed an excellent product for liberating photos, music, and video stored on computers around the house for family enjoyment around the big telly in the living room, but you need something like Boxee to finish what Apple started and complete ATV.

Apple TV is one of the unfound jewels from Apple that is fantastic. Syncs with your computers, rents movies, buy movies, look at your movies/pictures from iMovie or iPhoto, You Tube on and on…

I look forward to Apple getting serious about this product(instead of a hobby as SJ said), maybe jan 26 will be the day.
