That is an A20 in the middle picture.

If and when you get the A2 connected via the Internet, that is when you will see some of the more unique features/capabilities of the HD DVD format. HD DVD Moves should look and for the most part sound identical to the Blu-Ray movies. The key as was pointed out is the Movie selection and the Total Cost of Ownership.

Now that you have an A2 why don't you try using some of the HD DVD interactivity or the PiP features? You will soon realise that you have gotten quite a lot for your $125 investment! The PS3 today, even with it's wireless ethernet and mighty cell processor can not yet do some of the things that your $125 HD DVD machine can. And visa verse, when it comes to gaming, media station and complete movie downloads. But you must consider that the PS3 costs significantly more money than your HD DVD player. =)

I am not sure about the photo in the middle of the page. Perhaps it is an early prototype HD-A3? It is certainly not the HD-A2 that I have. My HD-A2 looks like the one in the top photo, stacked under the PS3.

I have heard that the porn industry has "endorsed" the HD DVD standard. Any guesses at who will win the war? They were a large factor in the death of Beta and we all know that every huge technology breakthrough on the web can be attributed to the porn industry. Not that there's anything wrong with that :-)

For those who want to take the plunge into HD but can't decide between Blu-Ray and HD-DVD; wait until the holidays.

Samsung is slated to release the BD-UP5000, (who comes up with these names/model #s?). This will be a combo-player that meets all of the HD-DVD and Blu-Ray specs.
