Terry, thanks for the analysis. My kid just turned old enough to get a phone and knowing his location is one of the few benefits. I wish you could see all family members on one map but so it goes. Find My Phone is the way to go.

The ATT familymap is using deceptive advertising and lying about it’s features. You can NOT get closer than 34 yards with this phone, no matter the GPS signals.

The ATT salesperson will try to sell you a phone with a GPS device in it stating that the FamilyMap will get better accuracy, this is a lie and false advertising.

The only time the phone actually uses the GPS device is when it is using ATT navigator. NOT as FamilyMap.

In fact in 90% of the times the accuracy is via cell-phone towers and is >0.5 miles of the actual location, actually worthless.

I wasn't aware of the AT&T Family Plan. I agree, it would be nice if you could have a Master Locator as part of a MobileMe family plan. I've used the find my iPhone quite a bit since my baby girl started hiding mine around my house. :^)

Lost my iphone in a cab the other day in NYC, by the time I noticed it was too late.
I kept calling the phone but no one answered.
I went on Mobile Me and it told me that my "find my Iphone" feature was not turned on, this should be on by default.
I started messaging my phone from Mobile me every 2 mins with a "Please call 212-xxx-xxxx for a reward" finally 10mins later the driver of the cab called me back, saying he kept hearing this annoying sound coming from the back seat.
I got my phone back within the hour , if you dont have a Mobile Me account, go get one asap.

Correct, as long as the 3 phones are on the same MobileMe account/login. In my case each family member has their own MobileMe email, etc. You can't sync to more than one MM account at a time.

Tracking multiple iPhones does not require the MobileMe family pack. I have an individual account, but can track our 3 family iPhones.

I found the iPhone and iPod Touch also to be much more accurate. So, I also dropped my AT&T Family Map because it was much less accurate.
