I, too, was so looking forward to this app. However, I was disappointed when Sling decided to restrict the types of sling boxes they supported with the app! My Slingbox AV is only slightly over a year old! Like you, I have it connected to a bedroom Tivo so as not to interfere with the main TV when I'm traveling. So it's not HD and the AV was the best unit for that setup. I had heard that at CES, the AV and Classic units were supported, but decided to artificially restrict their support in the final version. Instead they recommended you buy another $300 box in order to use the $30 app! There was such a backlash from the community, that I think Sling decided to allow the "older" boxes to stream, but they wouldn't take support calls. That's fine. But, I'd like to make sure it does work with a Slingbox AV before spending $30 - and I agree, it should be a lower price considering it's not as fully functional as the app on other phones.

I love my Slingbox, but for wifi, I might as well just continue watching on my laptop when on travel! I'll consider the iPhone app if/when the Slingbox AV is proven to work AND when they allow 3G/Edge.

It seems Sling could set up audio only on 3G and minimize their bandwidth requirements (any different than Pandora?). It's better than nothing, and I would be very satisfied with audio only for news, talk shows, sports and concerts.

If you're willing to jailbreak your iPhone, you CAN use this app over 3G : http://bit.ly/diXvr

Corporate greed, AT&T is happy to charge you 30 bucks a month for their own cell phone TV service, so why should they let us have the ability for free.

Sigh. I knew it was too good to be true. But it's good to know that it works "as advertised." I think I'm going to be one of those folks that holds off until 3g is an option. Bummer...I love my Slingbox!
